Welcome
Welcome

It is our personal belief that preventative medicine by a physician watching your child's growth and development over an extended period of time can be as important as the treatment of the disease. For that reason, we feel that such matters as nutrition, accident prevention, and child development are vital areas for our mutual concern.

You may find that we have a rather conservative approach toward the use of medication. We feel it's often too easy for doctors to give prescriptions and drug samples for conditions that don't really warrant them. We think this is expecially true for antibiotics which are indeed "miracle drugs" when used appropriately for bacterial infections (i.e. ear infections, strep throat...), yet are worthless for viral disease. Their indiscriminate use can, in fact, be quite dangerous and has led to their diminishing effectiveness.

You will find, therefore, that we are quick to suggest medication when it is truly indicated. When we feel its use is contraindicated, we will let you know. Where its appropriateness is debatable, we can discuss the relative risks and benefits.

Finally, we realize that, medication or not, your child will eventually get better on their own. Often, however, the road will be a rocky one. We don't pretend to be healers, but we ARE here to see you through your child's illnesses until they are all better.
